Since 2020Ghost kitchen to casita
Dine with us
A kosher kitchen with a Mexicali heart, and a bar that takes its agave seriously.
Chef Lenny
Lenny's Casita started as a takeout-only ghost kitchen with one stubborn idea: soulful Mexicali flavor belongs in the kosher world. It's now a full-service restaurant and bar on Pico Boulevard.
Chef Lenny cooks from California roots and fine-dining training — tacos, flatbreads and plates that are bright, craveable and his own. Behind the bar, cocktails are built on fresh, natural ingredients, with tequila and mezcal at center stage.
Hired to open Charcoal with an Israeli-inspired menu, Lenny slipped Lamb Shawarma Tacos onto the soft opening as an off-menu special. They sold out every night.

The dining rooms close
California shuts restaurant dining. Lenny's former meat supplier offers kitchen space during off-hours — enough to start cooking again.

A ghost kitchen opens
Lenny's Casita launches for takeout and delivery only. Within a week, the whole team is rehired — Cesar Mateo, now behind the bar, joins the family in these ghost-kitchen days.

A real casita
A full-service restaurant and bar at 8823 W Pico Blvd, still cooking to make every guest feel at home.
Cesar Mateo came to LA from Oaxaca at 11 and worked his way from dishwasher to bar manager at Guerrilla Tacos before building this list for Lenny's. No pre-made syrups, no artificial flavors: fresh-squeezed lime and house-made bitters, salts and spice blends.
Cesar's favorite high-school snack — cucumber, lime and Tajín — turned into a drink: jalapeño-infused tequila, cucumber and pineapple juice, agave, and house-made Tajín on the rim.
